Just got back from taking the kids off on a Featherdown Farm Days® holiday.
They had a great time. Collecting their eggs in the morning, feeding the chickens, horses, goats and generally mucking about in the fields and the farm.

I have to admit to being a bit nervous at being away from the sea for more than 2 days, but off we went. Greeted by the unique smell of the country on our arrival, we unpacked the car and wheeled the bags and cases up to the tent (in wheelbarrows provided). Luckily for me the rest of my traveling party had arrived a few days earlier and had already settled in, and we were treated to a tour of our field by the rest of the kids on the holiday. They took great pride in showing off the chickens outside their tents and the various animals they had befriended over the previous few days.

The tent you get as part of the Featherdown Farm holiday is absolutely superb. More chalet than tent, with a wooden floor, wood burner, comfortable beds, running water and a flushing toilet. For kids the bunk beds and double bed in the cupboard were a real hit, and they played in them almost as much as they did out in the field.

There's wasnt a huge amount to do on the farm we were at, but I guess thats the idea. The large field was a big playground and the animals were a constant attraction. Evening times we would gather round the picnic tables to eat together and stay out around the camp fire until it was time for bed. Highlight of the week for everyone was the pizza meal (not a take away) where everyone chipped in making dough and creating toppings to cook in the wood burning outdoor pizza oven.

As a few days to get away from the normality of modern life it was just the thing. It was great to be liberated from the gadgets and stresses of life. As long as I could charge my iPhone.

Recycled Bike Tyre Belts are on the way. They make great gifts - and as they're locally made and not mass produced, each one differs - styles are constantly changing. They come as standoutish or subtle as you like, 
so it's up to you. Oh and they're very limited.

Chopes was disappointingly smaller than we'd all hoped for, but the huge upsets 
and awesome final made up for it. Bobby Martinez (on a borrowed board) bagged 
a 9.73 with probably the wave and barrel of the contest.

Today's piece of nostalgia is a bit more close to home for us. Our last bit of dotty material has flown the coop! We loved dotty. It's been there with us right from the start. And we've finally eeked out it's last star. So it's bye dotty :_ ) look - it's waving :)
